A Father for children’s ministry leaders
The answer to a worn-out children’s ministry worker is not a better curriculum, more volunteers, or a slicker check-in system. It is not even more dedication. The answer is a Father — a holy Father for a beloved son or daughter who happens to spend their Sundays loving small children.
You spend yourself making God feel safe and near to a child. But you cannot give a fathering you have not received. When Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them,” He was making room for the small, the overlooked, the ones who cannot repay — and that includes you. You make room for the children. Jesus says “let the little children come to me” — and you are invited in first, to receive His kingdom like a child before you teach a single one.

His Word will not return void
When our Father said, “Let there be light,” there was light. His Word does what He sends it to do. The same Word you sing in a children’s song and act out with a felt board will not come back empty — not in the child who seems distracted, and not in you.
“My word… will not return to me empty, but will accomplish that which I purpose.” — Isaiah 55:11

A prayer for children’s ministry
Our Father, we thank You and praise You for all who serve in children’s ministry — the ones who pour into the youngest and the unseen, who plant seeds they may never watch bloom, who keep showing up in the nursery and the classroom while the world looks the other way. Let them hear Your whisper above the noise of recruiting, shortage, and tired Sundays. Let them encounter Your love — not as a lesson they teach, but as a weight they feel — and experience Your delight over them, apart from any headcount, any thank-you, any outcome they can measure.
Give them grace to prioritize intimacy with You above their serving, and to receive their identity as Your sons and daughters before their role as teachers and helpers. Father, gather these carriers of children into Your own arms and carry them; let them be fathered before they ever disciple another child, and let the love they receive from You pour straight onto the next generation.
I pray Your protection over them from the enemy, from temptation, from discouragement and the lie that their hidden work is small, and from despair. Let them know there is no condemnation in You. Let them know You, their Father, as their true inheritance and reward, for every other gift pales beside the gift of You. And may they wake up every single day under the pour of their heavenly Father’s heart for them.
