A Father for mothers

And here is the wonder of our God: He fathers you and He comforts you as a mother comforts her child (Isaiah 66:13). Psalm 127:3“He tends his flock like a shepherd: he gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart, and gently leads those that have young.”
He gently leads the mothers — the ones nursing, the ones with little ones — carrying them close, not driving them hard.
Isaiah 40:11“We were gentle among you, like a nursing mother tenderly caring for her own children.”
Even Scripture pictures God’s love through a nursing mother’s tenderness — the love you give is a window into His.
1 Thessalonians 2:7“And Mary said, ‘My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior — for the Mighty One has done great things for me.’”
Mary was an ordinary mother the Father chose and filled — He does great things through mothers who simply say yes.
Luke 1:46“Your family will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children like olive shoots around your table — and the Father’s blessing will rest on you.”
The Father’s blessing rests over the ordinary table you set each day — your home is holy ground to Him.

Comfort the way you comfort
To the one who soothes everyone else, the Father says “as a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.” You are not only the comforter — you are the comforted.

His Word will not return void
When our Father said, “Let there be light,” there was light. His Word does what He sends it to do. Every prayer you whisper over a sleeping child, every truth you plant in a small heart, every unseen act of love — none of it comes back empty.

A prayer for mothers
Our Father, we thank You and praise You for all mothers — biological, adoptive, step, foster, grand, and spiritual — the ones who carry the invisible load, who pour out endlessly, who hold whole families together while running on empty. Let them hear Your whisper above the noise of guilt and comparison and the relentless demands of the day. Let them encounter Your love — not as one more thing to do, but as a weight they feel — and experience Your delight over them, apart from how clean the house is or how patient they were today.
Give them grace to prioritize intimacy with You above their endless striving, and to receive their identity as Your daughters before they are anyone’s mother. Father, comfort them the way they comfort their own children; carry them close, the way they carry their little ones. Refill what has been poured out, and let them mother from the overflow of being mothered by You.
I pray Your protection over them from the enemy, from temptation, from the lie that they are failing, and from despair. Let them know there is no condemnation in You. Let them know You, their Father, as their true inheritance and reward, for every other gift pales beside the gift of You. And may they wake up every single day under the pour of their heavenly Father’s heart for them.
